"The legends you know are hazy, like smoke. A screen to conceal, to obscure and to protect us and what we are. We helped create those myths of werewolf and vampire, a monstrous disguise that eventually took on a life of their own. But did you know that 'smoke' can also mean 'to smell out; to hunt out; to find out; to detect'? What a word of contradictions - and, undoubtedly, ill omens." - Unknown Forget whatever you thought you knew - because no longer is it true. The reality is that vampires and werewolves, as separate and different, even warring, entities are simply... a smokescreen. A falsehood, an untruth, a cruel trick to mask the truth. They are lore made up on stormy, terrible nights, conjuring up nightmarish images to protect the reality. The true monster, behind the face of ravaging werewolf and cold vampire is that of something... so strange and yet familiar. Back then, they suffered beneath a variety of different names, all interchanging into a nonsensical, mishmash of misnomers. But now, they have settled on 'varcolac', a Romanian word that has been exchanged easily with vampire and werewolf. It is the closest they have come to a true name in a long, long time. Simply put, Smoke;VOLUME ASIA is a play-by-post role-play-game with a new twist on vampires and werewolves - crossing the two into a distinctly new species, the varcolac. The setting is modern-day in Kawagoe in Seitama prefecture, Japan, situated northwest of Tokyo.
